Comfortable rooms, children's space, coworking - social housing in Kyiv

Comfortable rooms, children's space, coworking space - this is how Mariupol residents live in social housing in Kyiv.
We have recently visited the social housing facility. The staff noted that everybody here feels like being at home, like in Mariupol. People have survived the worst together and are coming back to life together as well.
The space has been completely renovated and is equipped with everything you need: comfortable furniture, household appliances and basic living necessities.
Upon arrival, each family receives a starter kit: bed linen, kitchenware, household items and a mini-fridge.
There are also common areas. This is not just a place to cook or do laundry. It is a space for living. It also includes:
-a play area with a tutor for children
-coworking space for work and communication
-showers and toilets, some of which are equipped for people with limited mobility and disabilities
21 families from Mariupol have already received housing here. Among them is 75-year-old Maria. She lives here with her granddaughter and great-granddaughter:
"In 2023, we applied for housing. At the end of 2024, we received a call and were offered a room. It’s very good for people. You don't know when you'll have your own housing, and this is the place to live. It's cosy here, everything is so dear - like Mariupol. I’m grateful to the Mariupol City Council and the Mayor. A lot of work is being done for the people of Mariupol."
Before that, the family lived in a modular settlement. Now they live in warmth and comfort. If necessary, they can visit the "I'Mariupol" centre, the household centre and the medical hub "I'Mariupol. Health".
The "I'Mariupol. Housing" project is implemented at the initiative of Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko. It is about renovation of buildings into social housing for Mariupol IDPs. Today, more than 500 Mariupol residents live in such housing in Kyiv and Dnipro. Renovation work is also underway in Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kropyvnytskyi and Chernivtsi.
It is all about caring. About home and resilience. About Mariupol that lives and supports, no matter what.
