School of Recovery: developing a strategy for reconstruction of communities

As part of the international forum "Creating Tomorrow: Post-War Reconstruction and Community Recovery," the School of Community Recovery project was launched. The project was created in response to requests from municipalities seeking to learn from the experience of "Mariupol Reborn" and European practices to effectively rebuild their communities.

This platform will become a place for learning and sharing experiences between participants from different regions. More than 100 applications have been submitted by representatives of Ukrainian communities. The course will last until March, and a recovery vision will be developed for each team.
The best academic graduates will receive state diplomas.

The curriculum for training recovery specialists was developed jointly with the Association of Ukrainian Cities and leading Ukrainian universities. It consists of four main modules:
1. Strategic planning for communities - national and international aspects.
2. Economic modelling and urban reconstruction.
3. Social resilience: return of people and conflict prevention.
4. Project implementation, resourcing and investment attraction.
Upon completion of the basic training, participants will have the opportunity to upgrade their qualifications at the academic level at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and receive a state diploma.

The course is designed to provide communities with practical tools for recovery, including resource management and working with international partners. The programme was developed in cooperation with Kyiv Mohyla Academy and Metinvest Polytechnic, which guarantees a high level of expertise and support from the leading experts.

The importance of the School of Recovery is primarily driven by the enormous scale of the destruction and the scope of recovery work that many communities have already initiated. Therefore, we would like to express our gratitude to our donors, who made this possible: the British Embassy in Ukraine and FCDO. We are confident that we will achieve ultimate success in this important endeavour.
