UN partners provide warm assistance to residents of Mariupol

I'Mariupol together with its partners is trying to provide Mariupol residents in evacuation with the necessary assistance. All areas of support meet the needs and requirements of people. For example, the provision of warm assistance, such as clothing and family kits, is very relevant in a number of centres.

Our international partners, the UN refugee agency UNHCR Ukraine, regularly support Mariupol residents through the I'Mariupol network.

For example, in Odesa, thanks to UNHCR Ukraine, Mariupol residents are receiving p significant humanitarian aid: warm blankets, bed linen, flashlights and thermoses.

"The blanket is light, soft, and most importantly warm. It comes in handy on cold evenings. We thank the entire team of Mariupol City Council and international partners," says Yuliia, gratefully.

Another woman who talks about the pleasure of caring and the need for such help is Nataliia: "It's a wonderful solar-powered lantern. This is what I need for the period of power outage. Thank you for your help."

Last week, the center also received more aid from UNHCR Ukraine in the form of hygiene kits, clothes for adults and children.

People in Dnipro received winter support from the UNHCR Ukraine Humanitarian Centre "Proliska". Mariupol residents of the 65+ category received new clothes. Jackets, coats, parkas and down jackets, vests and shoes. Everything to make sure they feel warm.

In two other I’Mariupol support centres, UNHCR partners helped with clothing. In Vinnytsia, they provided clothes for both children and adults. From warm sweaters and jackets to scarves.

In Kropyvnytskyi, our Mariupol residents also received dresses, sundresses, shirts, pyjamas, jackets, windbreakers, thermal underwear, trousers and more. In winter, new clothes are just what is needed! But the most important thing is care and attention to people.

"Thank you for not forgetting and taking care of us. At my age, this is very important. I am delighted with the hat!" - says Leonid Mytrofanovych, a senior citizen of Mariupol.

"I'Mariupol employees are very polite and attentive to us," adds Anastasiia, who now lives with her family in Kropyvnytskyi. - "I am grateful to each and every one of them for their fruitful work. Today I was helped to choose clothes for the whole family. I am happy that I have the opportunity to come to the centre as if it were my family."

We are grateful to our international partners for their significant contribution to supporting the people of Mariupol. The Mariupol City Council, led by Mayor Vadym Boichenko, is working every day to expand the range of assistance.
