From the frontline to a new life: "I'Mariupol" supporting the Heroes

This story of a 22-year-old Mariupol resident is about courage, pain and the power of rebirth. In 2021, when he was just 19, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At first, he served in a rear-guard position, and in 2024, he was assigned to an assault battalion in the Donetsk sector.
It was there that he sustained a severe mine-blast injury during a combat mission. In the summer of 2024, he started a long journey of recovery.
Today, our warrior has undergone a full prosthetic treatment and is returning to life step by step.
From the very first days, Mariupol City Council has been providing support for the Hero: it helped with his rehabilitation, provided a room in social housing, organised medical care and supported him in his interaction with the military unit.
The veteran's assistant at the "I'Mariupol" centre has played a major role in making this happen. The specialist is there every day: from paperwork and social issues to assistance in everyday life. It is a live care that is felt at every step.
Our defenders are real heroes who find strength to get up and move on after the most difficult challenges. And the task of "I'Mariupol" is to be there for them, provide help and support.
We thank every warrior for their strength, courage and love for Ukraine.
